London Pop-Up

April 13, 2015 Stephanie Nass

On Friday night, Victory Club did its first pop-up outside of New York City: an apératif at Frameless Gallery in Central London celebrating the work of Brazilian artist, Rodrigo Sassi.

Ylenia Corsi, the gallery manager, explained how Sassi's exhibition "In Between" emphasizes being in between media as well as places. The notion of being in between places resonated with the group; at an intimate party, 8 nationalities were represented, and the editors from fashion-travel magazine majestic disorder, who attended as guests, endorse a nomadic lifestyle in their publication.

As ever, the invitation encouraged invited guests bring friends who were not initially invited ("Come in a pair"), and many new friendships were born.

Welcome to the online home of Victory Club, a supper club that brings together friends of friends over the culinary and visual arts.

Victory Club developed out of a post-college need, when it became harder to engage with the arts and meet people through that engagement.

Join.

The name, "Folded Victory," was inspired by an Elizabeth Bishop poem and alludes to a passion for finding beauty in everyday things. Bishop talks about "folded sunsets": sunsets that look like they're folding as they sink into the West but also flat images of the most regular thing. Folded victories are excellent things, captured and shared. Victory Club brings people together to celebrate those victories. We hope you'll get in the mix!
